Keyboard Checker

The keyboard checker keeps a list of every key on your layout. Press keys until the progress bar is full. Keys that are left show in the list and are outlined on the keyboard. When you are done, copy or download the report, for example to send to support or a seller with a warranty claim.

Keyboard checker

You need a physical keyboard for this test. On a phone or tablet, connect a keyboard by Bluetooth or USB first. The on-screen keyboard of a phone does not report which physical key you pressed.

How it works

Press keys on your keyboard. Each key lights up on the picture while you hold it and stays teal once it has worked. The page reads the key events your browser already gives every web page and never sends them anywhere.

This test needs JavaScript. The explanations below work without it.

How to do it

  1. Choose the layout closest to your keyboard.
  2. Press every key until the progress bar is full.
  3. Check the list of keys not tested yet and try them again.
  4. Copy or download the report.

What the report contains

  • The layout you tested and how many of its keys worked.
  • Every key you have not pressed yet.
  • Keys with suspected double presses, and how often.
  • Keys held for two seconds or more.
  • Keys outside the picture that also arrived, such as media keys.

The report is made on your device. Nothing is uploaded. If a key is missing from your keyboard, for example a right Windows key, it stays on the list: that is normal.

Keyboard checker or keyboard test?

The keyboard test is the quick look: press keys and watch them light up. The checker is for a full pass, for example on a second-hand keyboard or a laptop you are about to buy or return, when you want a written list of what works.

Frequently asked questions

How do I check if all keys work?

Press every key once on this page until the progress bar is full. The list under the keyboard shows the keys you still have to press. Keys that stay on the list after you have pressed them are not reaching the computer.

Why can I not reach 100 percent?

Your keyboard may not have every key on the picture, such as a right Windows key, Menu or Pause. Fn is never counted. Pick the layout closest to your keyboard and ignore keys it does not have.

Can I use the report for a warranty claim?

You can copy or download it and attach it to your message. It lists keys that never arrived and suspected double presses, which helps support see the fault. It is not an official diagnosis.
