About keyboardtest.co

What this site is

keyboardtest.co is a set of free keyboard tests that run in your browser: a full keyboard test, a keyboard checker, a single key tester, rollover, ghosting, double typing and timing tests, plus guides for keys that do not work. It is not a typing speed test. It is published by Takreparation Skåne AB in Ängelholm, Sweden.

How the tests work

Every test reads the standard keyboard events your browser already gives every web page: key down and key up, the physical key position (event.code), the produced character (event.key), whether an event is an automatic repeat, and time stamps.

All counting and timing happens on your device. Nothing is sent anywhere.

What it cannot tell you

A browser sees the keyboard only after the keyboard, its connection and the operating system have handled each key. Keys such as Fn and many system shortcuts never reach a web page, and true keyboard latency cannot be measured in a browser. The pages say so where it matters.
